Policewoman Shelian Cherine Allen who was indicted on drug-smuggling charges in federal court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was sentenced to 2 years and 9 months when she appeared in court in July.

A second charge for possession with intent to distribute cocaine was dropped. The sentence was imposed on July 18.

The Miami Herald reported that Allen, who is accused of carrying three pounds of cocaine on and inside her body, was arrested on February 22.

It was reported that the indictment charges Allen with two counts: importation of 500 grams or more of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
