50 bus and taxi operators across Kingston and St Andrew are slated to participate in the Transport Operators Blue Ribbon First Responder training and certification project undertaken by the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Service (TODSS).

While speaking to Roots FM Edgeton Newman gave an update on the meeting with transport stakeholders in Kingston and St Andrew on Tuesday, for their slated training, noting that there were additional endorsements from the National Road Safety Council and a corporate organization

The 1st phase of the project in St Thomas was completed on Sunday February 14 with the training of 25 bus and taxi operators and to receive their certification in the next three weeks.

TODSS and BCIC says following the Kingston and St Andrew leg of the training that’s slated to begin in March, Portland will be the next parish.

Operators will not only be first responder after training but will also be Road Safety Ambassadors.  Over 350 are expected to be trained over the next six months. And all vehicles of the trained drivers will be branded by BCIC as safe vehicles.
