ROOTSFM NEWS: Jamaica on Tuesday recorded 122 new cases and 5 COVID related deaths, pushing the number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in Jamaica to 51,404 and deaths to 1,165.
According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness the new cases consists of 65 females and 57 males with ages ranging from 36 days to 93 years
Kingston and St Andrew accounted for most of the new cases with 33 positives followed by St Catherine with 22, Westmoreland with 18, St Ann 11, St Elizabeth with 10, Manchester 9, ST James 7, Clarendon 6, Hanover with 3, ST Mary with 2 and St Thomas with 1.
The positivity rate has now climbed to 16.1%
Meanwhile the 5 deaths include a 75-year-old female from St. James, an 84-year-old female from St. James a 49-year-old male from KSA, a 74-year-old female from St. James, and 71-year-old female from St. Catherine.
27 recoveries were also recorded in the last 24 hours pushing the total recoveries to 46,751.
There are now 3,136 active cases with 111 being hospitalized of which 28 are moderately ill and 11 critically ill.
