REDI II INCOME GENERATION SMALL GRANTS FOR WOMEN & YOUTH

The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) on behalf of the Government of Jamaica with funding from the World Bank through the REDI II Project with its focus on agriculture and tourism seeks to respond to this need to reach these vulnerable groups located across some of Jamaica’s most underserved communities island wide.

The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) on behalf of the Government of Jamaica with funding from the World Bank through the REDI II Project with its focus on agriculture and tourism seeks to respond to this need to reach these vulnerable groups located across some of Jamaica’s most underserved communities island wide.

REDI II seeks to provide grants for groups of youth (aged 18 -35 years) and women operating small revenue generating activities in agriculture and tourism (with at least a 10% beneficiary in- kind contribution required).

Scale: National (urban, peri-urban and rural)

Community Poverty level: Quintile 1-2

AGRICULTURE:

Applications may focus on but are not limited to the following categories:

  • Chicken rearing
  • Pig rearing
  • Bee keeping
  • Fisheries equipment
  • Open-field vegetable cash crop production
  • Home economics & Social Services
  • Backyard gardening
  • Urban gardening
  • Assistance with obtaining Food Handler’s permit
  • Small hand-held tools and equipment e.g. mist blowers, weed wackers, etc.
  • Technical assistance and capacity building

TOURISM:

Applications may focus on but are not limited to the following categories:

  • Virtual, Digital or Technology Enhanced Products, Marketing or Service Delivery (e.g. Women owned tour company, online tourism influencers, organizations involved in digital marketing and social media strategy etc. with ability to drive business to Community Tourism Enterprises)

REDI II potential applicants should fulfill the following criteria:

  • 4-H affiliated, SDC-affiliated, have CASE, HEART or other evidence of agricultural training or be RADA registered, Team Jamaica certified would be an asset (subject to revision)
  • Preferably, be part of a formal agricultural group or cluster or Community Based Organization
  • Can demonstrate participation in at least one successful ongoing agricultural project
  • Enterprise is or can be legally registered with the Department of Cooperatives and Friendly Societies (DCFS), Companies Office of Jamaica
  • RADA, SDC, TPDCO and the Jamaica 4H Clubs will be requested to submit list of eligible groups for consideration
