Police officers at the Portmore lock-up in St. Catherine intercepted two men who attempted to smuggle contraband. During a routine check of the cell block, the officers noticed the men walking to the back of the police compound with bags.

It’s reported that sometime before midnight, the men were spotted on surveillance cameras.

On seeing the officers, they fled leaving behind the bags that contained cellular phones, SIM cards, lighters, cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, food, and other items. They were subsequently arrested and are awaiting formal charges.

The police are warning the public that anyone found trying to smuggle contraband into the lock-ups, will be arrested.
